Cards and Stitches!

Sorry I haven't posted much this week. My dd (2.5 yrs. old) had a fall on Tuesday and ended up with 4 stitches in her forehead - we've all been a little distracted this week, and that meant no stamping time for me.
Good friends of ours are going to Disney in 10 days and their dd has her birthday right before their planned trip. In a remarkable moment of pre-planning, I picked up some Disney dollars when we were at Disney in Feb. (as you can't get them here in Canada) because I knew they would make a perfect birthday present. I needed a card to slip them into, so I made this. This particular friend is very much into Tinkerbell, so I used Dress-Up Lily and gave her sparkly wings and a wand (the ribbon on the front didn't look crooked in real life - maybe it's the angle??).
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I get to attend a stamping demo at my kind of local scrapbook store this afternoon and am really looking forward to it!

School Thank Yous

It's that time of year! My son has school tomorrow and then a half day on Thursday and he's done! Teacher gifts have been easy this year and last year, I collected from a group of parents and we got the teacher a spa gift certificate. But then there's the lunchroom supervisor, resource teacher, and crossing guard. A good friend and I went together on gifts for them, so we could do a little more. We were visiting our local farm and bought each a set of Strawberry jam and Strawberry jam scone mix. Then I dressed it up a little using Papertrey's Green Thumb set. I stamped a matching bag, made a quick card and a topper for the jam. I think they turned out super cute and they were VERY economical.
Hope you had a great weekend and thanks for looking!

Cool Idea - Online (and offline) chore charts

As the end of school is quickly approaching (next week - eek!), I'm getting a little concerned with keeping my kids busy and maintaining some routines around the house. I think I'm going to set up a summer schedule, but to help me with that, I'm going to use this free website: Handipoints. You can set up all kinds of charts and kids can work through the tasks to earn both handipoints, which they can redeem in Handiworld, as well as parent points to work towards a reward that you set with your child. This looks so cool! Just wanted to share with others of you that might benefit from this free website as well!

Bitty Baby Twins

My mother in law was visiting the other day and asked me to make a card for a baby shower that she's attending. It's for a friend having twins. Luckily, I had just received my Papertrey Ink Bitty Baby Blessing set and had the perfect stamps! The onesies are paper pieced then popped up on dimensionals. The sentiment is also on dimensionals. The paper is DCWV Nana's Nursery girls and the ribbon is also from Papertrey (Berry Sorbet). Happy Friday and hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Lucky me - a Silke original!

A short time ago I won blog candy on Silke's blog by leaving a comment with one of my favorite sketches. Silke made this card with the sketch I linked and sent it to me with my winnings. Isn't it gorgeous? I love the way she punched a portion of the Fresh Cuts stamp set in the circle. Thank you so much Silke!

I need "Serenity Now!"

Hubby has been away all week and I'm ready for a break (read: stamping time!). This was a 3x3 card that I created last week for the other MFT Ambassador challenge. I paper pieced the yoga top and yoga mat with some rose red designer print paper. The rest of the image is coloured with copics and mounted on blue bayou and soft sky cardstock. We also needed to make a co-ordinating envelope - I lined a SU 3x3 envelope with another pattern from the paper and stamped one of the accessory images on the back. Hope you're having a great week!

Baby Mice!

Luckily, we weren't visited by any baby mice - just the ones on this card. This is another House Mouse stamp that I hadn't had time to play with yet. This card is for my new niece Brooke. Coloured with my copics, paired with some Basic Grey Oh Baby paper sewn onto SU's Barely Banana. I used the sale-a-bration set So Many Scallops for the sentiment. Thanks for looking!

Itty Bitty Visitor!

Look who came for a visit today! This little baby bunny hung out for a while on our patio (ignore the weeds!). He looks big in the picture, but if you look at our patio chairs behind him/her, you get an idea of how tiny he/she was. So cute! I'll be back later with a card (ironically my card has more tiny creatures on it!).

Ambassador Bundles of Bouquets

I made this card for My Favorite Things's Ambassador challenge. The challenge was to use the paper tole technique - in other words, stamping, cutting out, and layering an image 3 times. It is hard to see in the picture, but the bee, butterfly, and dragonfly are all layered 3 times. I used cool caribbean cardstock and ran it through my cuttlebug with the textile folder. I sewed some Amy Butler patterned paper to it and added my image - from MFT's Bundles of Bouquets set. I used Lauren's Saturday sketch for my layout. I'm pretty happy with this one - although it was a lot of work to cut out all those small images. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

My Favorite Things Guest Designer

I had time yesterday and today to work on my entry for the My Favorite Things guest designer contest. The "rules" were that you needed to use black cardstock and embellishments. I still needed a Father's Day card for my father in law so used that as my jumping off point.

I paper pieced the back wall and covered the chair in fun flock. I used my slot punch to make some slits in the back panel and threaded the ribbon through them. I'm happy with this card and think my father in law will like it. There's some great entries in the contest - check it out if you have time! Have a wonderful weekend!

Sorry I was a Turtle!

Or rather .... sorry I didn't mail your birthday card on time! My poor brother is getting a late birthday card - I did talk to him on his birthday, the card however is tardy! I used this cutie turtle from the Papertrey Pond Life set, paired with some Chatterbox patterned paper. The colours are Blue Bayou, Bashful Blue, and Old Olive. His shell is popped up on dimensionals and his spots are covered in Crystal Effects. I'd better go now so I can get this card in the mail!!

P.S. Did you see the new releases from My Favorite Things? I love the ice cream set and the cupcake set is so cute too! I'm working on cards for the guest designer and ambassador contests, hopefully I can share them over the next couple days!

Lucky me and Father's Day!

I am a lucky girl today - just found out I won blog candy on Silke's blog! I first found Silke a couple months ago when I was perusing the pretty petals gallery at SCS. I quickly added her to my Google reader and she is one of my faves! Thanks Silke! Please go check out her blog if you don't already - you won't be sorry!
Here's a Father's Day card I made last week. I pretty much cased it entirely from Taylor's sneek peek. I just love this set and the sentiments that go with it (Father Knows Best from Papertrey Ink). The paper is from the MME stack from Costco and I used Bella Baubles in the corners. Thanks for looking!

A Fabulous Weekend!

It's been such an amazing weekend and there's still a whole day left! On Friday I went with a group of friends to see Sex in the City - it was fabulous and exceeded my expectations (especially considering some of the reviews I'd read!). A new theatre opened near us and they have a "VIP room", where there is assigned seating, super comfy seats that recline with tons of leg room, and a waiter to take your concession order and bring it to your seat. It was SO worth the extra $5 we paid!

Last night hubby and I scheduled a babysitter and went out for a nice, long, lingering dinner out. It was such a change not having to rush out because of kids. Best of all we had gift certificates so our entire meal and drinks were all paid for.

Onto the card - I was browsing Kristina Werner's blog and found an old colour challenge as well as her ribbon weaving tutorial. I've never seen the weaving done with the satin ribbon, only the grosgrain, but wanted to try it. Other than that - it's pretty simple. A SU polka dot background stamp, SU ribbon and felt flower, and my swiss dots cuttlebug folder! Card size is 4&1/4" square. Hope you're also having a fabulous weekend!
