Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays!

Hello friends! I'm not quite sure where the time has gone over the last couple days. I'll be so happy next week when we can finally get into a routine. My daughter starts preschool this week, but it's a staggered start so she truly starts next week.

Fall is full of birthdays in our family. My son's birthday is quickly approaching and this year we've decided to make use of all our Lego and have a party here at home. These are his invitations. I took a picture of some of his Star Wars Lego and had them printed at Costco. I used paper from my stash for the card base.

I downloaded a free Star Wars font and printed the details on some white cardstock. Because I used stuff from my stash - these invitations cost me a total of $1.20 (the photo processing). Score!

Speaking of birthdays, my cutie patootie nephew turned 3 last week and I made this card for him. This is a Hero Arts set and I paired it with some DCWV paper and some rub on stitches.
The sentiments is popped up on dimensionals.

Stitched Clean and Simple

Hey y'all!! We're on vacation in Georgia so the greeting seemed appropriate! Man it's hot down here! We're having an especially damp, cold summer so it seems especially warm here!

I made this card last week for both the colour challenge and clean and simple challenge over at Splitcoast. The colours were blush blossom, coral, celery, chocolate chip and white. The clean and simple challenge was to use stitching. I pulled out some Doodlebug rubon stitches that I've been hoarding and they worked beautifully - time to use up the rest of the packs!

The woodgrain stamp is from Hero Arts and the flowers are from Papertrey. This is different for me - but I'm pleased with it. I am really wanting the new woodgrain bg stamp from Stampin' Up, but not sure if I can justify it, seeing as I already have a stamp (albeit much smaller).

I'm off to Archivers today (so excited!) so I'm going to vamoose! Hope you're having a great week!

Cased Cards!

I've been feeling less than creative these days but needed a couple of cards. So I resorted to shamelessly caseing some very talented stampers. I'm hoping it will jump start something!

This first card is based on this one by Kristina Werner. I happened to have the same stamp so it appealed to me. I know - who am I kidding? I only changed the color scheme and the sentiment - I used my quickutz alphabet for it.


This second one was based on this card by Mercy Kerin. Again, pretty much the same card except for the colour scheme and sentiment. Oh and I left the knot off the ribbon!


Anyway, I hate to case so literally but both cards were awesome and I needed a boost. I have managed to do a couple of sketch cards since these, so maybe it worked! Thanks to Kristina and Mercy for their amazing designs!

Pacific Sketch Challenge

When I was at my Stampin Up stamp club last night, I mentioned to a friend that I hadn't yet used Pacific Point from this year's In Colors. My friend was aghast - apparently she's been going a ton of it and loves it! So here you go Sofi - this one's for you. Although I couldn't pull it off with Stampin Up stamps. There's a set in the new catalog that's super cute called Cheep Talk. Every time I look at it I want it - except I have a set from Hero Arts called Cherry Bird which is SO similar and it hadn't seen ink yet - until today!
I used today's sketch challenge over on Splitcoast and paired that Pacific Point with my fave - Kiwi Kiss. Anyway, I think it's a cute card, although I wish I would have spaced the birds further apart. I'll be back tomorrow to show you the Valentines I made for my son's teachers.

Sketchy Dandelion

I had a chance yesterday to play along with the sketch challenge over at Splitcoast. I think that sketch challenges are my favorite kind of challenges - perhaps because it makes a card come together so quickly. When I saw the long skinny panel on the sketch, I knew that I wanted to use this Hero Arts Dandelion stamp. I've only used it once before, and I'm really trying to be good about using what I have. The SEI Dill Blossom paper matched so well that it was just begging to be used on this card. The rest is straightforward - the pink is Pink Pirouette and I stamped the chocolate chip layer with a linen background stamp, inked in Palette New Canvas. I'm off to do some laundry, and maybe play along with the MFT sketch challenge!!

Beep beep Birthday!!

Happy Friday!! I am super glad it's almost the weekend! But I do need to finish today - it's my hubby's birthday and this is the card that I made him. I used this week's sketch challenge over at Splitcoast and inked up this Hero Arts set that I had bought a while ago and had yet to use! I think the sentiment is so funny - I know it's aimed at kids, but it's almost like the beeps are those censoring bleeps! Anyway, the paper is Stampin Up's summer picnic that I've been hoarding and finally decided to cut into. Have a great start to your weekend!!

Mojolicious!

I made this card a while ago for one of Julee's mojo monday sketches (mojo45), but never entered it or got it uploaded. I used the Hero Arts cupcake set and paper from DCWV Nana's kids stack. I masked the cupcakes to stack them and coloured them with copics. The icing is covered with stickles. Hope you fellow canucks had a wonderful long weekend and everyone else had a great weekend too!

Still Getting Dirty!

With the Dirty Girl challenges at Splitcoast I mean! The first card was for Julie HRR's white space challenge. Boy was this a challenge for me! This card looks simple but took me forever! Dandelion stamp is from Hero Arts, the "wish" sentiment is from Stampin' Up. I overstamped the dandelion in platinum ink and added some ribbon and some sparkle stickers.

The second card actually combines two challenges. I watercoloured the Inkadinkado Lighthouse using a combination of inkpads and waterbrush along with a couple of Tombow markers. This one feels kind of naked, but I couldn't figure out how to add any more embellishment without forcing it!

I'm off to my SU demo's catalogue retirement party and then off to the airport to pick up my best friend in the whole world for a week's visit. Ciao!

Birthday Lily

It seems to be birthday party season for my son. He's invited to a classmates pool party this weekend and I needed to make a card. Luckily I received my Pink Cat Studios Dress Up Lily stamps last week, so I got to ink her up. Just a simple card with pretty in pink, barely banana and certainly celery cardstock as well as some DCWV glittery paper (from the posies stack). She's coloured with copics and the hat and present are popped up on dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Hero Arts clear cupcake set.

Bad Blogger!

I've been a bad blogger lately! I'm about to start full time work for about 3.5 weeks and I'm writing documentation - which is not my favorite thing to do! My mother-in-law is also coming for a visit this week so I've been madly cleaning and de-cluttering. We've also completed our yard clean-up and are busy building and assembling our shed. Life is crazy right now!

Can you handle another cupcake card? Again from the Hero Arts cupcake clear set and paired with some Basic Grey patterned paper and pumpkin pie cardstock. Ribbon was a score from the dollar store. Hope you're all having a good Monday!!

Doodlebug Cupcake!

Just quick post as I'm off to pick up my son from school. I created this card based on the patterned paper. It's from Doodlebug and I adore everything Doodlebug! I paired it with some pumpkin pie and purely pomegranate cardstock as well as some luscious purely pomegranate satin ribbon. Image is from the Hero Arts clear cupcake set - I just love that set! Super quick card but super cute and fun! Hope your day is sprinkled with fun!

Everyday Inspiration

This is what the Cdn. edition of Harry Potter 7 looks like. I haven't looked to see what the US version looks like. I was thinking as I was looking at the cover that it would make a good card layout.... so I made a card. I found the stamp I wanted to use (love that sketched bird!) and was also inspired by the cardinal who suns himself in our yard every afternoon. Then I saw the Splitcoast challenge for today which was to make a tent topper card. It's really just a regular card with a panel set on top. It looks especially pretty standing up and so that's what my card became. Sorry for the poor pic but it's too late and too dark to retake it.
