MFT Teasers - Monogram Alphabet

Happy New Year's Eve to you!  Do you have big plans tonight for ringing in 2012?  We're actually going to see Mission Impossible in IMAX and then out for a bite.

We're back today with more MFT Teasers and we have two fabulous sets to share with you.  I chose to make a project with the new Monogram Alphabet.  The size and font of this clear alphabet are fabulous!  I've been wanting to make a banner for my house for a while now so took this chance to do it.  I love that paper banners are so easy to fold up and store - that's important to me because storage space is always at a premium!

I used the new Layered Heart Die-namics and again chose to stitch them together.  I used white embroidery floss for the  4 hearts with the word "love" and pink embroidery floss for the 2 end hearts.  I used all 6 strands of the floss because I wanted a nice thick, visible stitch.

I also cut some rosettes using the 3/8" Rosette Die-namics.  Because I didn't want them to cover the whole heart, I cut each rosette in half and made smaller ones.

I stamped one of the circular border stamps that come in the set in black ink, and then the letters in red ink.  I cut my circles out with the small circle die from the First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics set.  It was a perfect fit.

For the two hearts on either end of my word, I cut a felt heart using the Hearts A Plenty Die-namic and stuck it in the middle of my rosette.

MFT Teasers - Clearly Sentimental About Romance

Welcome back for more MFT Teasers!  Today we're showing you the new Triple Scoop set.  Not only is it fabulous and so appropriate for the upcoming months, it's also yours FREE when you purchase $60 worth of merchandise in the MFT store.  What's better than free?

There are so many awesome sentiments in this set, but this one jumped out at me.  I must admit that I'm a closet Twilight fan.  I stamped this line by Edward in red ink on some ledger paper from the Echo Park Times & Seasons line.  I cut both the frame and inset with the brand new At The Movies Die-namics set and added a heart from the Homespun Birdhouse Die-namics set.  I cut both the heart and the circles under the brads from some old denim that I had lying around (actually an old pair of my son's jeans that he put the knee out of).  The layout is the Wednesday Sketch challenged from a couple of weeks ago (WSC49).  I'm still trying to catch up on all the sketches I missed!

Here's a close up of the heart - so cool in denim.  I was trying to keep my colours fairly neutral since Bella isn't really a girly girl.

And to carry the denim through I cut little circles and mounted them behind my brads.  Guess what I used to cut my circles?  The film reel die that comes in the new At The Movies Die-namics.  Fun, no?  They were the perfect size!

I used the new Jumbo Monarch border along the top of the inside and stamped another one of my favorite sentiments on the inside panel.  Edward and Bella kind of qualify as a fairytale, right?  Behind the sentiment I stamped the pretty heart from the Inspired by Love stamp set.

I also have a card to show you using last month's Triple Scoop set that will now be fully released and available for purchase.  Pearls of Wisdom has a ton of great sayings that can be used for many different occasions.  I stamped the saying on the oval from the Well Worn Greetings Die-namics which fit perfectly into the middle of the new Oval Decorative Doily Duo. The papers are all October Afternoon Farmhouse and the layout is another Wednesday sketch challenge from a couple of weeks ago (WSC50).

Here's a close up of the new Rolled Scallop Flower in felt with a pearl in the middle and you can also see the Oval Decorative Doily Duo stacked right behind it.

For the inside of my card, I stamped another saying from Pearls of Wisdom and cut the smaller of the Oval Decorative Doily Duo to use on the top and bottom.

MFT Teasers - Bunch of Hearts Flopsey

Welcome back to Day 2 of MFT Teasers for the January release!  Guess who's back?  That's right - it's your favorite rabbit and mine - Flopsey!  It's been a while since we've seen him and I love this new set and I especially love that it's great for both males and females, old and young alike!

I stamped Flopsey on X-Press It blending cardstock and coloured him with my copics.  This time around I used W1, W3, W5, and W7 as well as some R20 for his cheeks and ears.  I decided to cut him out and mount him on the new Layered Heart Die-namics die.  I love the size of this die!  And how fabulous are those holes?  They are perfect for stitching, or even just left as is.

Now although this is the layered hearts die, I was blog surfing the other day and saw a project that Debbie Olson had done where she nested shapes together in one layer.  And so I decided to do the same with my hearts.  So the Kraft heart is nested into the cut out in the red layer.  And the pink, stitched heart is nested into the Kraft heart.  I love the way this looks - dimension without the bulk!

I also used some lace trim along the bottom (from my secret santa - thanks Karen!) and mounted a hug and kiss (aka x and o) cut from the By The Letters dies.

Here's a close up of the layers that aren't really layers - LOL!  I think you can see that they're all flush.

It all worked out quite well because then I used the negative portion of the inner heart die for the inside of my card.  I stamped a sentiment and heart from the set in the middle of the heart to finish it off.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #52

Hey all!  I wanted to pop in and share my card for this week's MFT Wednesday Stamp club sketch challenge.  It's hard to believe we're at week 52!  Since there are 52 weeks in the year, it must be the last sketch challenge of the year!  Crazy!

I know we're past Christmas now but I have one last Christmas card to share.  I actually made this card for my son's teacher from a group of students/parents who got together and chipped in money for a gift card to a running store.  So I pulled out this Let's Get Physical WTG set and dressed her in Christmas colours.  I paper pieced her pants and shaded with warm copics.  The papers are all Echo Park Seasons Greetings and I added lots of stitching and some red brads for embellishment.

I used the flags from the First Place Award Ribbon die set as my horizontal element in the sketch and added a strip cut with the Small Scallop Border die along the bottom of my image.  A star cut out of some silver glitter paper with the Stacking Stars die finished it all off.

On the inside of the card, I used a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental About Christmas and another sentiment from Let's Get Physical WTG.

Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog and the MFT forum on SCS (look for the most recent WSC thread). You'll need to upload your card in the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch. You will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money. One winner is chosen at random each week!

MFT Teasers - Who's That Parisian Girl

It's that time of the month again - time for MFT Teasers in preparation for the upcoming release.  Today we're showing you this month's Who's That Girl set - Who's That Parisian Girl.  I just love how chic and stylish she looks walking down the street.

I stamped her on X-Press It blending cardstock and coloured her with my copics.  I always giggle a little when I'm "accessorizing" images.  I like to make sure her shoes match her bag - LOL!  It reminds me a bit of playing with "Fashion Plates" when I was a girl.  Do you remember that toy?

I paired her with some My Mind's Eye Paris & Co. patterned paper (it seemed appropriate, no?).  I also used the new Eiffel Tower Die-namics as a layering piece and I cut a Rolled Scallop Flower from some muslin.  The sentiment is stamped on one of the new Mini Wavy Pennants dies.  I used the Die-namics Crown Border along the bottom panel for a bit of visual interest.

Here's a close up of the Rolled Scallop Flower cut from muslin and rolled loosely.  I love the way it looks.

I finished the inside off with another fabulous sentiment and an accessory Fleur de Lis image both included in the set.  I also used another Eiffel Tower die inside.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #51

Well good afternoon!  It's time again for MFT's Wednesday Stamp club sketch challenge.  I can't believe we're at week 51 - that's almost a whole year of sketches!  I've made an early resolution to participate in all the MFT sketch challenges next year!  I hope you'll help hold me to it!

For this week's sketch I pulled out one of my favorite Fred Bear stamps.  This is Fred Bear & the Megaphone and I just love the sentiments in this set.  I stamped him on X-Press It blending cardstock and coloured him with my copics.  See the texture on his fur?  I used the handy dandy blender solution on a rag trick to make him look fuzzy.  I love the dimension it adds.  I paper pieced his megaphone and used the "out of the box" technique so it protruded out of the image.  I figured my megaphone could do double duty as the tab portion of the sketch.  I added the Wonky Scallop border die along the bottom and the Button Quartet to cut a matching red button for the corner.  All of the patterned papers are Echo Park Winter Park collection.

I stamped him again inside the card and added another sentiment from the set.  I also cut another strip of matching patterned paper again using the Wonky Scallop Border die for the top.

MFT Pure Innocence In The Air VIP Collection

Well hello!!  It feels like I've been away from my blog forever!  I took a little trip out of town and have been busy with Christmas preparations - as I'm sure you have as well.  It was so nice to take some "me" time and create these cards to share with you for tonight's VIP Collection New Product Tour.  We have another Pure Innocence Collection for you this month, you may remember that last month was the first time it was offered.   I know this one will sell out lightning fast too, so you'll definitely want to head over to the MFT store to purchase yours right HERE.

I paired Pure Innocence Jump For Joy with some October Afternoon Sidewalks papers and this month's Sketch For You To Try.  I stamped this cutie on some X-Press It blending cardstock cut with the Tag You're It die.  I paper pieced her cute little dress and did a bit of shading with my warm grey copi8cs and coloured her collar and belt with a R24 copic.  I decided to split one of the sentiments from the Exclusive VIP Sentiment set and stamped the first half on one of the Mini Tabs Foursome dies. I also used the new Rolled Scallop Flower that is included in the VIP collection with some felt and added it to the bottom of my card.  I also added some leaves cut with the Upsy Daisy leaves die for embellishment.  You may also notice the larger size die from the Dainty Doily Duo as one of my layers.

I put the rest of my sentiment inside the card along with a portion of the image.  I ran a piece of patterned paper cut with the Little Open Scallop Strip die along the bottom as well.

Isn't this new flower gorgeous?  I must admit that I doctored these flowers a bit though.  Let me show you how.

Once I rolled my flower, I decided it was a little bigger than what I wanted for this card.  I think the size is fabulous, but I really wanted to create a cluster without taking away from the main image.  So I started rolling the flower and when I felt like the size was appropriate, I stopped and cut the felt.  I used some liquid glue to secure the flap to the side of the rolled flower.  Easy peasy!

The full size flower is on the far left.  This is what it looked like rolled with my felt.  And next to it are the three I made with partial portions of the die.  They each took about half the original flower (so one flower die cut actually gave me two flowers).

I also decided to make another card with Pure Innocence Plane Amazing.  I paired her with some My Mind's Eye Fun Day papers and again decided to use the same sketch.  I used another of the tabs from Mini Tabs Foursome Dies and again I selectively inked the sentiment from the Exclusive VIP sentiment set (I didn't ink the "You're").  I used the little plane die that comes with the You Move Me Die set for embellishment as well.

I stamped a sentiment from the set inside as well as the image again in Memento London Fog ink.  I also cut some patterned paper with the Wonky Scallop Border die - to mimic clouds.

So how about a little last minute Christmas shopping for yourself?  You'll find the collection right HERE.  And to see links to all the designers sharing products with you tonight, head over to Kim's blog.  Thanks for stopping by!  I'll see you back here tomorrow for the MFT sketch.
