MFT Teasers - Inspired by Flowers

Happy Monday all!  Today I'm back with a set of cards showing you the new set Inspired by Flowers.  This is the first in a year long series of 4 sets.  I must admit that these flowers intimidated me a bit when I first saw them.  I wasn't sure my colouring was up to the challenge, but once I started, I just couldn't stop and made a set of 3 cards.  It's actually super easy to colour these babies up since the dots indicate where your shading should be the heaviest.  I think I did ok with them, although I do admit to googling images of the flowers for inspiration.

For each card I used the Perfect Bracket Edge die on both the card base and the patterned paper panel (the paper is MME So Sophie).  I stamped them on Perfect Paper Panels and I sponged around the inside of my nestability shape with some Wheat chalk ink and added some twill.  I tried to keep these super simple so that the flowers would really be the focus.  And because super elegant is not really my style, I tried to casual them up a bit without losing too much of their formality.

I don't usually share copic colours, although I'm more than willing if you'd like me to start, but it seemed to me that you might want to know.  For the daffodil I used:  Y000, Y11, Y13, and a touch of Y17.

I kept the insides all the same and used the Framed Greetings die shape and one of the sentiments from the set.  I love this sentiment as it could equally be a "just because" card or a "birthday card".

For the violets I used V12, V15, and V17 for the flowers and G40, G82, and G94 for the foliage.

I kept the inside the same on this one as I do love this sentiment.

For the carnation, I tried to use more of a flicking action to try and get that ruffled edge that you see on the flower.  The colours I used were:  R20, R21, R22, and R24.

I changed the sentiment up on this one.

So what do you think?  Ready to try your hand at these?  Trust me - if I can do it, then anyone can.

MFT Teasers - Pure Innocence Warm Fuzzies

Hey all!  It's Pure Innocence teaser day and I'm so in love with this cute little bunny!  Make sure you check out Kim's blog for a list of all the designers sharing teasers today as there's 4 more adorable stamps being shown!

I stamped her on X-Press It blending cardstock and coloured her with my copics.  I paired her with some different Doodlebug papers and matching cardstocks and added a felt heart cut with the Hearts a Plenty die and a Small Scallop border down the side of my flocked paper.

As soon as I saw her I knew that I needed to flock her.  Initially I tried to flock her using my sticky sheet technique (tutorial here) but I have to admit to you that it didn't work.  I was using a new brand of flock (Martha Stewart) and it's not as fine and doesn't seem to adhere to the sticky sheet.  So I used my quickie glue pen to adhere the flock.  She's super cute and fuzzy in real life.

I finished the inside off with another sentiment from the set and another small scallop border.

MFT Teasers - Clearly Sentimental About Parenting

Happy Saturday!!  As you read this I'm most likely running around getting ready for my daughter's 5th birthday party.  We're having some of her friends over and are having Belle visit too.  So I'm going to make this short and sweet so I can get back to my preparations!

Welcome to Day 2 of MFT Teasers for the March release!  Today I'm showing you a card I made with Clearly Sentimental About Parenting.  This was last month's Triple Scoop set (free with the purchase of 3 full sized sets) and will now be available to purchase on March 1st at 10 pm EST.  I love the sentiments in this set.  Here I've paired one with the Fly a Kite die and some MME Fine and Dandy papers.  I used twine for the kite tail - did you know that MFT now carries twine?  You can find it right here in all kinds of yummy colours!

I finished the inside off with another sentiment from the set and the Little Open Scallop Strip die.

MFT Teasers - Fred Bear Oopsie Daisy

Hey all!  Welcome to Day 1 of MFT teasers for the March release.  I can't wait to show you all the new sets and dies - you're going to love them!  Today I made a card using a new Fred bear stamp.  I coloured him on Xpress-It blending cardstock and dipped a sponge in copic blending solution and dabbed it on to look more like fur.  I also used Flower Trio and Leaf Trio Die duo to cut some daisies as embellishments.  The patterned papers are from MME Fine & Dandy.

I used Jen's February sketch for you to try for the layout.  There's still time for you to play along too!

I finished the inside off with another Fred and the rest of the sentiment, along with the Small Scallop border.

Scrapbook Queens February Design Team Projects Part 2

Hey all!  Things will be busy here on my blog for the next little bit as MFT teasers start on Friday.  But I did want to share the rest of the projects I made with my design team kit from Scrapbook Queens.  We worked with Echo Park Be Mine papers which are super fun, and in fact I already have been in to get some more.

For this card I paired the papers with Pure Innocence Sending a Box of Love stamp (currently being restocked) as well as a panel cut with the Framed Greetings die.  I also pleated the ribbon along the bottom and added some baby braddies in the top right corner.

For my last project, I decided to make a decorative ball using the Rolled Flower die.  I took a Styrofoam ball and coloured it with a pink copic marker.  Then I cut many flowers (a whole 12x12 sheet worth!) and hot glued them to the ball.  I used a pearl head pin to secure the ribbon loop but I also gave it a dab of hot glue for safety.  I love the way it turned out.

That's all I've got for you today, except to mention that Kim has a special announcement over on the MFT blog.  You'll definitely want to go check it out!  I'll see you back tomorrow with a teaser.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #8

Happy Wednesday!  It's time for another MFT sketch challenge and here's my take on it!  You can see links to all the designers playing along over on Kim's blog.  If you play along and upload to Splitcoast using the keyword, you could win $15 in MFT cash or $20 if you use MFT stamps on your project.  I hope you'll play along with us!

I actually decided to flip the sketch and use the Sheltering Tree Die-namics die for the main panel.  I paired it with some October Afternoon Campfire papers and added some felt grass, a Simply Scallops strip, and a wood button.

ETA: I totally forgot to say that I used the Cloud Trio die for the tree leaves (thanks KJ for noticing!).  I have wanted to do this ever since Amy Sheffer did it here.

I finished the inside off with another scallop strip and a sentiment from the Sheltering Tree stamp set.

Here's the sketch - I can't wait to see what you do with it!!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I'll see you tomorrow with another post!

Scrapbook Queens February Design Team Projects Part 1

Happy Sunday!  Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.  We get a long weekend here as it's a holiday tomorrow and I'm SO looking forward to an extra day off.

I wanted to pop by and share a couple of my design team projects for Scrapbook Queens.  This month we worked with Echo Park Be Mine papers.  They are so gorgeous and I've already had to replenish my stash!

Firstly I created a card using a new Kraftin' Kimmie stamp - this is Judy!  I also used a sketch from this week's Kraftin' Kimmie challenge.

Then I decided to use Samantha for this card.  The pink panel that she's mounted on is the reverse side of one of the patterned papers.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet as I'm off to get some dinner ready.  I hope you'll come back on Tuesday to see the rest of my projects!  Thanks for stopping by.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #7

Welcome to Week 7 of the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge.  This year we've moved to weekly sketches and I am enjoying them SO much!

This week I decided to use a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental About Parenting, since that flag panel was just begging for a sentiment.  This set was last month's Triple Scoop set (free with the purchase of 3 full sized sets) and is still available as such.  It will be fully released next month and available for purchase.  But why buy it when you can get it for free?

I embellished with butterflies from the Butterflies Die-namic die and some black pearls.  The papers are Cosmo Cricket Pixielicious.

Here's the sketch!

You can find links to all the designers playing along over on Kim's blog and we're also over in the MFT forum at Splitcoast chatting and drooling over your work.

We encourage you all to play along, and to enter your card in the weekly draw for a $15 gift voucher to the MFT Boutique.  Simply follow the sketch and create a card or other paper creation.  You may use any stamps and supplies that you wish.  All you need to do to enter, is upload your card to the gallery at SCS, and enter MFTWSC7 in the keyword box, during the upload process.  After the deadline, we randomly choose a winner from that week's entries and the winner will receive a $15 gift voucher.  If the winning card uses MFT stamps, the participant will earn a $5 bonus, for a total of a $20 gift voucher!  That is up to $100 per month in prizes, JUST for playing along.  We hope you'll join us!

MFT March VIP Hop

Well Hello there!!  Welcome to MFT's VIP hop for the March release.  The VIP package is your chance to get the new WTG set 2 weeks before it's released to the general public.  There are a limited number of kits and they sell fast so you'll want to get yours quick!  If you've come here by way of the fabulous Michele, then you're on the right track.  If you've just stumbled upon this post, you'll want to go back to the beginning at Kim's blog.

This month's Who's That Girl set is so fabulous and a bit different than in the past.  See what I mean?

Ack!!  Isn't she great?  I just love her in the circle instead of a square or rectangle!  I stamped her on some X-Press It blending cardstock and coloured her with copics.  The paper I used to piece her top as well as the other patterns are My Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup.  The background Kraft paper is also MME, but the reverse side of some Halloween paper. I pleated my ribbon and then stitched through it.  I also added some black glaze pen to the black keys of the piano to make them shiny.  The layout is the February sketch for you to try (see my left sidebar).

For the inside of the card, I used one of the sentiments from the free mini that comes in the VIP kit (Musical Mini) as well as one of the music notes from Who's That Musical Girl.  I used the Simply Scallops die along the bottom as well.

Don't forget that the two à la modes that we've been previewing are also now available for purchase!!  They're available HERE and the VIP kit is available HERE while quantities last or until midnight Wed. (whichever comes first).  Thanks so much for hopping by.

Now you're off to see Susan who always has something amazing to show you as well as super helpful Susie Q-TIPS!

MFT Teasers - All-Star à la mode

Welcome back to the second day of teasers for the MFT à la mode release.  Both new à la modes will be available for purchase at 10pm EST tonight!  For links to all the designers sharing projects today, you'll want to check Kim's blog.

I stamped my All-Star on X-Press It Blending cardstock and coloured her with copics.  I paper pieced her pennant using some October Afternoon (Campfire) paper.  Along the bottom I used the Banner Strip die and layered the Stacking Stars die in some circles.  The layout is from Karen's Sweet Sunday sketch.

I finished the inside off with one of the accompanying sentiments and the Star Border die.

Thanks for stopping by!  I will see you back here tonight at 10pm for the VIP hop.  This month's Who's That Girl set is fabulous!

MFT Teasers - Wishing You Luck à la mode

I don't know why I am always surprised that it is the middle of the month and time for the à la modes release and the VIP kit release.  Time is seeming to fly by lately and although today is Valentine's Day (Happy Valentine's Day to you, by the way!), we're already thinking about St. Patrick's Day.  In fact, I was at the mall the other day and many stores already have Easter stuff out!  I love this Wishing You Luck à la mode because although she's holding a shamrock, she comes with sentiments that will make her perfect for many more occasions.  For links to all the designers sharing projects today, hop over to Kim's blog.

I stamped my à la mode out on some X-Press It Blending Cardstock and paired her with some October Afternoon papers (Modern Homemaker).  I used the MFT sketch back from week 5 for my layout and I used the Jumbo Scallop die for the bottom panel as well as the Scalloped Scallop die.

For the inside I used the new Simply Scallops die along the bottom and one of the sentiments from the set.  Did I mention that I love all the sentiments that come with her?!

Well that's it for me today!  Thanks so much for visiting!  Hope you give and get lots of love and that you don't limit yourself to just one day!  I'll see you back here tomorrow for another teaser and the VIP hop.
