MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #6

I am just loving the weekly Wednesday sketch challenges over at MFT.  You can find all the details over on Kim's blog and you can win $15 for playing along ($20 if you use MFT stamps!).

Can you tell I'm missing the sun just a little?  We've been back from Florida for a week now and I'd really like to go back.  This snow stuff is no fun - I much preferred wearing shorts.  So with that in mind I decided to use this sentiment from the Textile Rectangle set.  I decided to stamp it on the graph paper and leave it without a border and I sponged the edges with some matching ink.  I added the Sunshine Die-namic die as well as the Small Scallop border die along the bottom of the twill.

The papers I used are all from October Afternoon.  I hope you'll play along with us.  All the details are on Kim's blog, but all you need to do is upload to Splitcoast using the correct keyword.  Easy peasey!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

February SFYTT!

Hey all!  Welcome to February's Sketch For You to Try!  It's a new month and we have a new sketch for you!  I hope you played along last month and that you'll have a chance to play along this month.  Remember that if you play along every month all year, you'll be entered to win a prize package worth over $200.  Simply play along and link up over on Jen's blog.  All the details are over there as well.

This month we're being sponsored by Anita Be Stampin. They just released new stamps last week and we were super lucky to get to play with them!  Make sure you check them out!

So here's this month's fabulous sketch.

And here's my take.  I used the rubber stamp set Love Bear and paired him with some BoBunny Crazy Love papers.  I covered his heart and his nose with some clear glaze pen and added some brads and twill.

He comes with some super cute sentiments in some wonderful fonts.  So what do you think?  Ready to strut your stuff?  Make sure you check out all the inspirations from my fellow sketch sisters and I can't wait to see what you create!
   Have a wonderful weekend!

MFT February Shop & Hop

Well hello there!  Welcome to MFT's February Shop & Hop.  Aren't all the new stamp sets and dies fabulous?  If you've come here from Carole's blog then you're on the right track.  If you've just stumbled upon this post, you'll want to start back at the beginning at Kim's blog so as not to miss any of the amazing eye candy!

I've had so much fun playing with this month's release and I decided that I wanted to revisit the technique I used to create this card since there are some sentiments about rainbows in the new set The Great Outdoors.  I decided to take a couple pictures along the way to show you how I did it.  I started with the Rolled Flower die and cut 5 - one out of each colour I wanted in my rainbow.  I used felt because it has a little give in it.  I'm not sure this would work with paper.

I cut the outer ring off each flower.
I know it seems like a bit of waste, but the beauty of this is that you can still use the remaining piece to make a rose, it will just be a little smaller.
Here are all of my colours.
I then nested them inside each other, lining up all the narrow ends.
I cut off the extra ends, to make an arc.
Then I adhered the layers down to my panel and cut off the extras.  I covered the other ends with a couple of the new flat bottomed clouds cut from white felt.  I used last week's MFT sketch and the Die-namics Sunshine die seemed to be perfect for the corner element of the sketch.  I also used the new Simply Scallops die along the top.  The papers are all Doodlebug and of course the sentiment is from the new Great Outdoors set.
I finished the inside off with another Simply Scallops strip and one of the other rainbow sentiments from the set.  I love how these two sentiments go together so well.

Well that's all I've got for you!  Remember that all the new releases are available now - right HERE.  And don't forget to leave comments along the hop.  One of the designers is giving away a gift voucher - but we're not telling you who.  The more comments you leave, the better your chances are of winning.  Now you're on your way to our fabulous guest designer for this month - Kelli Jo.  I know she'll have something to knock your socks off.  Go tell her what a fabulous job she did this month.

MFT Teasers - Inspired by Butterflies

I love this month's Inspired by set.  It's all about butterflies and has three gorgeous butterflies and some absolutely fabulous quotes.  I kept my card fairly simple and stamped one of the butterflies in Versafine Onyx black ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I did this on some Doodlebug patterned paper and then cut out my stamped shape.  Because I was using this week's MFT sketch challenge for the layout, I used the Dainty Lace doily die (currently being re-stocked) for my middle shape.
I finished the inside off with the Dainty Lace border die and the new Butterfly die as well as my favorite sentiment from this set.

MFT Teasers - Pure Innocence Believe in Magic

Happy Pure Innocence day!!  I know that I say this every month, but I absolutely adore this month's new PI's.  It was a super hard decision picking only one to show you today, but I decided to show you Believe in Magic.  I think probably because as you read this we've been in Disney World for 4 days and have a couple more to go.  So I'm all about the magic right now.

Which is where the inspiration for this card came from.  Look familiar?  I hope so, otherwise I haven't done a very good job.  I used a die cut that used to be plain chipboard and coloured it with a BlueGreen copic.  I then made a mist solution with my blender solution, a BG copic refill and some shimmer paint, and spritzed the entire thing.  I love how shiny and sparkly it is in real life.

Then I decided to paper piece my PI with green Doodlebug sugar coated cardstock.  The finishing touch was some Swarovski pearls on her slippers and Swarovski crystals for her wand and hair (you did get that this was Tinkerbell right?).  The background papers are October Afternoon Campfire.

The finished piece is a little big - almost 5"x7".  I'm going to frame it along with some pictures of my daughter with the fairies that we got the other day (in a three opening frame).

Here are the details about the upcoming release on February 1st at 10 PM EST:

MFT Teasers - Flopsey

Hello!  Welcome back to Day 2 of February MFT teasers.  Today I have a card for you featuring my favorite rabbit Flopsey.  This set is called Smooth Sailing and is so perfect for paper piecing.  I used October Afternoon seaside papers for my card and also used the new Catch a Wave die as well as the Banner Strip die.  I was going for kind of a regatta feel - did it work?  I cut 2 sets of waves out of different shades of blue felt and adhered them to the bottom of my image before I ran it through with my nestability.

I used another banner strip and wave strip on the inside of my card, as well as a sentiment from the set.

MFT Teasers - The Great Outdoors

Hey all!  I'm back today with an MFT teaser for the February release.  I can hardly believe it's that time already - where did January go??

The set I'm previewing today is called The Great Outdoors and is a set that was specially designed to go with all of the wonderful nature themed Die-namics dies that MFT has released.  For my card, I used the new Fly a Kite die (ack - isn't it fabulous?!) and kept it really simple with some cloud paper (I think it's from WeR) and stitching.  I also used some twine that my friend Jody sent me (thanks Jody!!) for the tail.

For the inside, I stamped the kite from Flopsey Flies a Kite and used another sentiment from the new Great Outdoors set.  The border along the bottom is cut with the new Simply Scallops die.  The scallops are a perfect size and for me are a must have.

Scrapbook Queens January Design Team Projects

Hey all!  Hope you're having a good week.  I wanted to pop by and share some projects I made for Scrapbook Queens with our January design team kit.  This month we were playing with Basic Grey Jovial papers as well as some Tim Holtz tape and some Jovial chipboard stickers.

For my first card I kept it really simple.  I used the Polka Dot Greetings stamp set and die and added some stitching and brads along with some of that Tim Holtz tape.  Love these colours together.

For my second card, I really wanted to use this super cute bird sticker, so I paired him with the Banner Strip Die-namic with mini alphabet and some twine.  The gifts are another one of the stickers from the same sheet.  I thought this would be a great thank you card for a Christmas gift.

I knew when I saw these papers that I wanted to use this cute Pure Innocence Ladybug stamp.  I paired her with the Dainty Lace Doily die and used one of Karen's Sweet Sunday sketches.  I added some stitching around the image panel and changed the stitch up at one point.

Lastly I decided to make a tag.  I think this would be super cute accompanying a journal as a gift.  I used Pure Innocence Making a List and paired her with the Rosette die.  I also used some Jenni Bowlin border stickers that were in my kit and a Kaisercraft stamp for the background.

I'm going to leave it at that for tonight since I'm running short on time.  Scrapbook Queens carries MFT stamps and Die-namics for my local peeps, and for those who aren't local, you can follow the links above.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I'll see you back on Friday for MFT teasers!!

MFT VIP Hop!

Hey all!  Welcome to the February MFT VIP Hop.  This is your chance to purchase the new WTG set 2 weeks early.  Kim has bundled a fabulous kit for you, including a new Die-namic and some fabulous papers and bling!  Can I tell you that I'm addicted to this paper?  I've used it for my à la mode card yesterday and again for my card tonight.  If you've just stumbled on this post, you'll want to head over to Kim's blog to start at the beginning of the hop.

I am seriously loving this new WTG set.  It's not only perfect for babies, but also for all our children, no matter what their ages.  Like I already mentioned, I used the My Mind's Eye Tickled Pink papers that are included in the VIP kit and added some Stacking Stars.

I finished the inside off with a sentiment from the set, another star, and the Jumbo Scallop die-namic.

So hurry over and get your very own VIP kit!  Quantities are limited and you don't want to miss out!  It's available right HERE.  Also, both new à la modes are now available.  You can find them HERE.  And while you're there, don't forget to check out the brand new collections of felt and ribbon.  They look so yummy and I can't wait to get mine.  Now you'll want to head over to Susan's blog to see what beautiful eye candy she's got for you.  Thanks for stopping by.

MFT Teaser - Oh Baby à la mode!

Happy Monday all!  I can't believe it's that time again - for the MFT à la mode teasers and the VIP release tomorrow night.  Today we're showing you Oh Baby à la mode and to see all the teasers you'll want to head over to Kim's blog to check out the links.

I decided to use this week's WSC sketch (there's still time to play along for your chance to win $20 in MFT money - check out this thread on Splitcoast) and I paired it with some My Mind's Eye Tickled Pink patterned papers.  I used the Die-namics Perfect Bracket Edge die (currently being restocked) for the circle element of the sketch, and added a button and some brads for embellishment.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I'll see you back here on Tuesday night for the VIP hop!

MFT January Creative Challenge

In 2011, MFT is working harder than ever to inspire you, and we have come up with something we think you'll really enjoy.  Our Design Team Creative Challenge will be a new monthly feature, where we challenge our design team to explore their creative side using a specific theme or product.  This month, we asked the team to get creative for Valentine's Day.  It's a great occasion to get crafty, and put your supplies to good use.  Are you ready to get some ideas for your Valentine's Day gifts?  Visit Kim's Blog for a full list of participants to see everything from cards to gift ideas and everything between.

I decided to make a little something for my daughter.  We don't do a ton for Valentine's Day in terms of gifts, we're more about making heart shaped pancakes and cookies.  But there's always the requisite chocolate, and my daughter happens to love seasonal socks.  Halloween, Christmas, Easter - she's all about the themed socks.  So I decided to make a little box for the ones I picked up the other day using the new Sweet Surprise Gift Box template.

I also made a little matching card - this one is 4.5" square.  I used one of the new Die-Namics Rosette dies (currently being restocked) and added a felt heart cut with the Hearts a Plenty die.

I finished the inside off with another heart from the die and a sentiment from the new More Essential Sentiments set.

I cut the box using my Cricut and covered it with various Doodlebug papers.  I made a belly band and added another felt heart cut with the Hearts a Plenty die and a Pure Innocence You Give Me Wings image.  I pieced her top and pants with more Doodlebug papers and covered her wings with glitter.

The socks were a bit of a tight fit but because she's still got little feet, I managed to get them in there.  It definitely wouldn't fit an adult pair of socks.  This was super easy to cut out and put together using my Cricut. I love how easy I can make 3D items.

My daughter will be tickled with her socks - trust me!  Hope this gives you some ideas - it doesn't have to be all about the chocolate (don't get me wrong - there will definitely be chocolate too).  I can't wait to go peek at what the rest of the designers have cooked up for you - so I'll meet you over there with my coffee!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Sketch For You to Try Meets TCP Tuesday!

Hey all!  Hope you're having a great weekend!  I've been working and cleaning for most of mine - but that's o.k. on both counts.  I did have a chance to sneak in earlier and do a bit of stamping as I wanted to make another SFYTT card with my new TCP stamps.  They're generously sponsoring the Sketch For You to Try this month and you could win a set of your choice for playing along.  Check Jen's blog for all the details and to link up your card.

I also wanted to take a stab at the inspiration challenge over on the Cat's Pyjamas blog for their Tuesday challenge.  Here's the inspiration piece....

Here's what I came up with.  I used Sheepish for my image and sentiment and paired it with all sorts of Doodlebug papers.  I distressed everything and sewed the panels as well.  I used the "out of the box" technique with my sheep so I could keep my image panel a little smaller.  I also made this into a standard card (4.25" x 5.5") rather than a square one.

I hope you'll play along with us for your chance to win a free stamp set from The Cat's Pyjamas.  Also, one lucky stamper who plays along each month will win a huge prize package at the end of the year.  I'll see you back here on Tuesday for a MFT group post!

Wednesday Stamp Club - Getting Sketchy With It!!

MFT is super excited to announce that Wednesday Stamp Club will now be centered around a weekly sketch.  We know your stamping time is precious, and we want you to maintain as much creative freedom as possible.  Sketches are the perfect starting point to a card.  Use it as a blueprint, and create a card using the stamp set and supplies that strike your fancy.  You can turn to the sketches time and again for creative inspiration.
A new sketch will be posted each Wednesday at midnight on the MFT blog.  You'll also find the sketch in the MFT forum on SCS on Wednesday morning, as well as in the weekly newsletter.  Our talented Challenge and Design Teams will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I am stoked that we're moving to a sketch challenge!  I love sketches and can't wait to play along!  And seriously - you could win $20 in MFT bucks!  That's a couple sets!  I hope you'll play along with us!  This week I decided to use the new Pure Innocence Ladybug that was released last night!  I paired her with the Die-namics Perfect Bracket Edge die (currently being restocked) and did a messy ruffle with ribbon for the bottom panel.

We encourage you all to play along, and to enter your card in the weekly draw for a $15 gift voucher to the MFT Boutique.  Simply follow the sketch and create a card or other paper creation.  You may use any stamps and supplies that you wish.  Each week, a keyword is assigned to the sketch.  All you need to do to enter, is upload your card to the gallery at SCS, and enter the given keyword in the keyword box, during the upload process.  After the deadline, we randomly choose a winner from that week's entries and the winner will receive a $15 gift voucher.  If the winning card uses MFT stamps, the participant will earn a $5 bonus, for a total of a $20 gift voucher!  That is up to $100 per month in prizes, JUST for playing along.  We hope you'll join us in 2011.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!
