MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #12

Hello all!  It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another MFT sketch challenge.  I loved this week's sketch and know that I'll be making more cards with this one.  This card was actually a special request for a friend of mine.

I stamped Pure Innocence You Make the Grade on X-Press It blending cardstock and coloured with my copics.  I used a white prismacolor pencil and blended it with some gamsol to get the chalk residue on the blackboard.  I had been wanting to try it since I saw Amy do it on her card.  The papers are My Mind's Eye Stella Rose and I added a felt heart cut with the Hearts a Plenty die and a strip cut from the Simply Scallops die.

Because this is a birthday card, I used a sentiment from Pure Innocence Birthday Princess and another Simply Scallops strip.

Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog and the MFT forum on SCS (look for the most recent WSC thread).  You'll need to upload your card in the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch. You have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Scrapbook Queens March Design Team Projects Part 2

Happy Tuesday!  I just wanted to pop by and share the rest of my March Scrapbook Queens projects using Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime papers.

For my first card I used the
Sassy & Sweet stamp set and Sweet Stack Labels dies.  I clear embossed the animal print on Gumdrop Green cardstock.  I also used the 3/8" Rosette die to pleat the paper along the left side and added a Simply Scallops border in black along the bottom.  The layout is this month's dirty dozen sketch over at Splitcoast.

For my last card I used Inspired by Butterflies (currently being restocked) and kept it pretty simple.  Some stitching and brads and a popped up butterfly was all this one needed.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I'll see you back here tomorrow for a new MFT sketch challenge!

Scrapbook Queens March Design Team Projects Part 1

Happy Monday!  I wanted to pop by and share a couple of the cards I made with the Scrapbook Queens March design team kit.  This month we played with Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime papers.  I must admit to a little fear when I pulled them out - they're definitely not my usual style.  But I had fun working with them and I paired them with some MFT goodies.

My first card uses Pure Innocence Butterfly Kisses as well as the Die-namics Butterflies die (currently being re-stocked).  This layout is actually this weeks WSC sketch and there's still time for you to play along.  Full details can be found here.

For my second card I didn't want to cover this cute fairy paper, so I used a sentiment from Pure Innocence Believe in Magic and paired it with the Framed Greetings stamp and die set.

Stop back tomorrow and I'll have another two cards to show you from the same kit!  Have a great day!

Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge - Buttons!

Happy Saturday!  It's challenge time again over on the Kraftin' Kimmie blog and this week we're bananas over buttons!  We're to use buttons as our only embellishments.  One of the things I love about the Kraftin' Kimmie images, are their size.  They're nice and big!  Because of this, I thought it might be fun to shrink them down.  So for my challenge project, I stamped a couple images on Shrinky Dink material and made some tags.

I started with Lucy, cause I thought she'd make a super cute tag for my library bag.  This is an important bag in our house, because it's where our library books live when they're not in use.  We make regular trips and this bag helps us keep track of what we have signed out and what needs to be returned.  I die cut a shape using my nestabilities, then stamped Lucy in Staz-On.  I coloured on the reverse side of the shrink film with my copics, so as not to smear the ink (Staz-On and copics do NOT like each other!).  Then I punched a hole with a 1/4" punch and shrunk it in the oven according to the package directions.  Easy Peasy!

This picture gives you an idea of how much it shrinks.  The package said 1/3 the size.  Looks about right?!  Don't you think?

Then I decided to do the same with Angie.  I used a different nestie shape but the same process (and by the way - her skin looks kind of funny because you're seeing the burlap through the tag).  Wouldn't this be cute on a gift bag full of coffee?!  Incidentally, this coffee was a gift from a stamping friend and I just want to reassure said friend that I'm not re-gifting the coffee, just using the bag as a prop (see it's the gift that keeps on giving!).

Personally I think I should make one of these to wear around my neck, to warn anyone off who tries to talk to me before my morning coffee.  LOL!

So there you have it.  My projects using only buttons as embellishments!  I hope you'll play along with us over on the challenge blog?  You can win free stamps by linking up your entry!  Thanks for stopping by!  I'll see you back here tomorrow!

MFT Fiesta WTG VIP Hop!

Happy VIP day!  The new à la modes are now available for purchase in the MFT shop as well as April's VIP kit.  The VIP kit is available for one day only and in limited quantities.  This is your chance to get some April goodies three weeks early and score a free exclusive mini set while you're at it.  If you didn't start the hop over at Kim's blog, you'll want to do that now.

Isn't Fiesta Who's That Girl sassy?  I just love her all dolled up to go dancing!  I paired her with some Scenic Route papers and added a peek of the new Die-namics die that is included in the VIP kit - Pretty Posies.  I am seriously in love with this new flower die!  This set comes with fabulous sentiments and I used one of them around the edge of my circle.  This layout is from Karen's Sweet Sunday sketch challenge.

I finished the inside off with another sentiment from the set as well as a Pretty Posie.

You can purchase your VIP kit right HERE.  But hurry, they never last long!  And don't forget the new à la modes as well.  Your next stop along the hop is the fabulous Susan.  She not only has droolworthy creations, but great tips as well!

MFT Teasers - You Mean the World to Me à la mode

Welcome back to Day 2 of MFT Teasers!  Both new à la modes will be released tonight at 10pm EST as well as the VIP kit and a brand new product line.  You'll definitely want to check back tonight for the VIP hop to get all the scoop!

Today we're showing off You Mean the World to Me.  I love this girl from how she's standing, to how she's holding the world.  I paired her with some October Afternoon Campfire papers and some Sour Apple and Black Licorice (currently being re-stocked) cardstock.  Did you know there's also 5 new cardstock colours being released?  Yummy!

I snuck the Small Scallop border behind my red panel as well.  I have to point out that there is one sentiment in this set that made me howl - and I totally think I can use it too.  It reads "What in the world were you thinking?".  I'll bet you money that Michele used it on her card (and I promise I haven't seen her card yet)!  It's her kind of sentiment - she has the best sense of humour.

Make sure to check Kim's blog for a complete list and links to all the designers sharing teasers today!  I'll see you back here tonight for the VIP hop!  Thanks for stopping by.

MFT Teasers - You Rule à la mode

Hey there!  It's mid month again which means it's time for another à la mode release and the VIP kit release over at MFT.  Today we're showing you You Rule.  I admit that I'm a sucker for teacher stamps.  I use them often to make cards for my kids teachers - and I {heart} this one too!

I stamped her on some X-Press It blending cardstock (currently being re-stocked) and coloured her with copics.  I used the Notebook Edge die along the side of my panel of Hot Fudge cardstock (currently being re-stocked) and paired it with some Jillibean Atomic Soup papers and Sno Cone cardstock.  I added a small rosette - I actually die cut one 3/8" Rosette, cut it in half lengthwise, and formed it into this smaller one.

I finished the inside off with the Sweet Stack Label die along with another sentiment from the set.

Make sure you check Kim's blog for links to all the designers sharing teasers with you today!  The new à la modes and the VIP kit will be released on March 15th at 10pm EST.  I'll see you back here tomorrow for another teaser!

Krafty Challenge - Anything Goes!

Well Good Morning!  It's challenge day over at the Kraftin' Kimmie blog and since the new stamps will be released tomorrow (Sunday March 13th) our fabulous hostess Kimmie says "anything goes"!  Woo hoo!  Talk about an easy challenge - you'll definitely want to play along because you could win a free stamp.  Your choice of either Brigitte or Cap'n Charlie.  And what do you know?  I've got a card for you featuring Brigitte.  I must have been reading Kimmie's mind!

I stamped Brigitte on X-Press It blending cardstock and coloured her with my copics.  I cut her with a rectangle nestability but used the "out of the box" technique for her hair and foot.  The papers are My Mind's Eye Stella Rose - I think they might be Hattie (I'm having the darndest time remembering those paper names!).  I also added some pearls, a die cut border, a button and some tulle.  Yup - I said tulle!  My good friend Carole (who is also a Krafty Guest this month!) sent me some goodies and tied up some twine with a button and tulle.  It looked so pretty that I decided to re-purpose it for my card.  The layout is this week's CPS sketch.

I hope you'll play along with us this week!  Have a great day and I 'll see you back here tomorrow for the Kraftin' Kimmie release blog hop!

Krafty Peeks - Everyday Girls!

Happy Friday all!  It seems like I've been waiting for this day all week and it's been forever getting here!  I'm so excited to show you one of the Everyday Girls being released this month over at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.  I love all these new girls and I know you will too!

I had to show you this one first as this is SO me in the morning.  I just have a hard time functioning without my coffee.  This is Angie and she comes with two awesome sentiments and an accessory stamp.  I paired her with some Echo Park Be Mine papers and split the sentiment up so it would fit my card a bit better.

Remember to hop over to the Kraftin' Kimmie blog to find links to all the Krafty Girls and Krafty Guests sharing peeks today!  I'll see you back here tomorrow with another Everyday Girl for the weekly Krafty challenge.

Krafty Peeks - Pirates

Welcome back to Day 2 of Krafty Peeks.  Today we're showing you new stamps by Steven Leary - and they are fabulous!!  There's a whole bunch of them, but I chose to use One Eyed Willy and Captain Charlie for my card!  I stamped and coloured them with copics and cut them out.  I went with a simple layout and did some distressing and added a bit of twine.  The skull paper is from the Echo Park Halloween line and the rest is Basic Grey Wander.

We just did a trip to Disney World last month and we treated my son to the Pirates League. He got decked out as a pirate, complete with beard, scar, and black eye.  I just had to share a pic of him since he fits in so well with these new stamps!  We have a great picture of him all decked out and I'm going to use these stamps to make a frame for his room!

You'll definitely want to check out the Kraftin' Kimmie blog for links to all the Krafty Girls and Guests sharing peeks today!  I'll see you back here tomorrow for another peek.

Krafty Peeks - Krafty Quotes

If you're looking for my MFT sketch card, please scroll down or click HERE

I'm so happy to be a Krafty Guest this month and I am absolutely head over heels in love with this month's Kraftin' Kimmie stamps (who am I kidding - every month's stamps!)!  Today the Krafty Girls are showing you Krafty Quotes #2.  It was hard to choose just one quote to show you - but I was dying to play with my kite die so this one jumped out at me.

I stamped in blue ink, sponged around my quote and paired it with some MME Fine & Dandy papers.  I added some twine and some stitching and called it done!  I love how these quotes can be the main focus of your card.

There's some other fantastic quotes in this set so you'll want to make sure you visit the Kraftin' Kimmie blog to find links to all the designers with Peeks to show you today.

All the new stamps will be released on Sunday March13th.  Stop back tomorrow for another peek, k?

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #10

Happy Wednesday all!  Of course Wednesday means it must be time for a new sketch challenge at MFT.  We're up to week 10 and one random player will win up to $20 bucks tospend in the MFT boutique just by playing along!  For links to all the designers playing along this week, check out Kim's blog.  You can read the full details in her post.

I was so excited to see Just Bee Yourself in my mailbox the other day (she didn't make it to me in time for the release - darn Canada Post!) that I stretched the sketch a little to make it work.  I stamped this cute little bee out on X-press It blending cardstock (I am so in love with this paper and it looks like it's being re-stocked right now) and coloured her with copics.  The papers are from My Mind's Eye - I want to say Hattie, but that might be wrong - I'm having a hard time keeping those paper line names straight.

I used the Dainty Dots border along the bottom of my image panel and added some Rolled Flowers cut from felt.

I finished the inside off with a bit of paper, another Dainty Dots border and a sentiment from the set.

Here's the sketch:

I hope you'll play along with us.  Thanks for stopping by friends!

A Krafty Sketch For You To Try!

Morning all!!  Happy Saturday!  It is the first Saturday in March and that means it's time for a new Sketch For You To Try.  This month we are being sponsored by Amber Ink.  They have some super cute and clever images - go check them out!!

I also have a bit of other news to share - I am incredibly honoured to be guest designing for Kraftin' Kimmie stamps this month!  And this week's challenge over on the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge blog is to use twine or floss on your card.  So I've combined both the sketch challenge and the twine challenge for today's card!

Here I've used Arianna and paired her with some October Afternoon Seaside papers as well as a piece of Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather thrown in there too.  I rotated the sketch so that it worked a bit better for me.  I did some stitching, added some baby braddies and of course divine TWINE and a felt star and button.  I did have to cut off one of Arianna's seahorses to make the image fit my card a bit better - but I think it still works.

Here you can see where I glittered her up!  I used some glitzy glitter - clear for her body and some platinum coloured glitter on her tail.  I went with a bit of an Ariel colour theme for my mermaid, since we just returned from Disney not too long ago.

Here's the sketch for you!

Here are all the details:
1. The SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY {SFYTT} will be posted on the first Saturday of each month on www.iheart2stamp.com at 8am EST and will stay open to participants until the last day of the month, unless otherwise noted.
2. This is for fun! Interpret the sketch as you wish and embellish as desired. There are no vendor restrictions, but we would love to see you use the sponsor’s stamps!
3. Each month we will have a Designer of the Month that will be chosen from past month’s participants.
4. Come and play with us on each and every sketch! On Christmas Day 2011 a prize package worth over $200 will be given away to one very lucky and loyal SFYTT stamper that participates in EVERY sketch for the year.
5. To be eligible for the prize package, you must complete ALL of the sketches by each of the deadlines AND link your creation to the link system on that month’s sketch post (the first Saturday of the month). Everyone except for SFYTT Sisters are eligible for the prize package, including Designer of the Month and international players.
6. When posting your sketch creation on your blog, please post the sketch and link back to the sketch post on www.iheart2stamp.com. When posting to online galleries, please use the keyword “SFYTT.”

Now go check out what pure beauty my sketch sisters have created for you!

MFT March Release Blog Hop!

Hey everyone!!  Hope you've enjoyed all the teasers that you've seen over the last couple of days.  All of the new stamps and dies are now fully released and for sale in the MFT boutique right HERE.  If you've just stumbled upon this post, you'll want to start back at the beginning of the hop, back on the MFT blog.  If you've come here from Michele's blog then you're on the right track.

I wanted to share a little project I made using the new Pure Innocence Boy Scout stamp.  My son is involved in Scouting - here in Canada our terms are a little different.  At the present time he's a Cub Scout and so I've coloured his uniform to match his current one (which is why it might look a different from what you're used to).  My son is always bringing home badges from Cubs.  I'm pretty good at keeping up with the ones that are actually sewed on his uniform, but we get many from different camps and activities that are supposed to go on his camp blanket.  And that I'm not so good with.  So I took a gift box I had received at a promotional event and repurposed it.  I painted it blue and covered the top with Jillibean Soup papers.  I stamped out the image on X-Press It blending cardstock and coloured it with my copics.  I used some twill and some twine with a button along the bottom and used the Layered Label die for the title.  I stamped out "badges" using the Banner Day Alphabet (although now my son tells me that badges go on the uniform and crests go on the blanket - argh!).  I thought it would be fun to add a little speech bubble from the Say What stamp set and die (or maybe it's wishful thinking - lol!).

I used some Echo Park Little Boy papers on the inside.

And here's what it looks like filled with all his badges crests.  At least now they'll all be in one place rather than scattered throughout my house.  I also can't wait to make some Thank You cards for our Cub Scout leaders for our end of year celebrations because the sentiments in this set are fabulous too.  Although I have a little time before I need to get cracking on them!

Don't forget to leave comments along the hop as one of the designers is holding a $15 gift voucher to give away to someone.  The more comments you leave, the better your chance of winning.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Your next stop along the hop is the fabulous Jen del Muro.
