Sketchy Owls!

I finally had the time and desire to stamp today and decided to play along with the MFT sketch challenge over at Splitcoast. I used Christmas Owls and stamped them on Kraft cardstock in Adirondack Espresso ink - I've been wanting to try this for awhile now. Coloured them with copics, prismacolour pencils, as well as a white gel pen. Distressed and sponged the edges with chocolate chip ink and the edges of all the other cardstock with Vintage Photo ink. Added a couple buttons and some linen thread - and voila! At least I've now created one card this week! Are you all ready for Halloween tomorrow? We're carving our pumpkins tonight - we can't do them ahead of time because the squirrels eat the designs off our pumpkins (right off our porch - brave little bums!). Have a spooky Halloween!

A Jump on Christmas!

I've been trying to get a bit of a headstart on some of my Christmas projects. This is a fairly simple one that I made the other day. It's a gift card holder and is for one of my son's teachers. I got the idea and instructions from Heather's Blog. I used old olive cardstock and some Basic Grey paper scraps. The coffee cup is from Inque Boutique's Chai Latte set - I was able to use a sentiment from Papertrey's Mixed Messages set to stamp in the label of the coffee cup (Thanks). The inside is stamped with the flourish from Baroque Motifs and a sentiment from Papertrey's Take a Bough. I have a couple more of these to make - luckily they're pretty quick. Hope you're having a great week - I haven't stamped in a while - I've lost my muse/mojo. Have you seen it??

Baby Onesie Gift

I needed a baby gift for a blogger friend who recently had a baby boy. I loved this tutorial of Taylor's and filed it away for future use. To summarize, in a nutshell, I prewashed the onesie and the fabrics, and stamped the elephant twice on each fabric with Adirondack Pigment Ink (I took Sherrie's advice on that one). I ironed the fabric onto Heat and Bond and then cut out two elephants and two contrasting ears. I then ironed the images onto the onesie and the card and stamped the sentiment (I then heat set the sentiment with an iron). The card is actually a case of Alli's card - I used the same fabrics instead of patterned paper. I think the overall effect of the gift is amazing and can't wait till my friend receives it. I have two more of these to do as I have a friend and a cousin who had/are having baby girls!!
Have a wonderful Friday!!

Thankful Tree!

I made this card today for the colour combination challenge over on Splitcoast. We were to use Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss and Chocolate Chip - an awesome combo! I used one of the trees from Papertrey's Father Knows Best set. I stamped and cut out the tree and trunk, then stamped more circles and punched them out from Old Olive cardstock and attached them for some dimension. The pink background was run through my cuttlebug and then sponged with chocolate chip ink. The patterned paper is Basic Grey - one of my faves.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Sketchy Cupcake!

Somehow I never posted this card - although it's a couple weeks old. I made it on World Cardmaking Day - which was Oct. 4th. This card was for a WCMD sketch challenge on Splitcoast but I never actually uploaded it. I used a new Stamp a Sweet Impression set - Sweet Celebration. This is the first time I've used this set, and I can't wait to play with the other images too! The paper probably looks familiar - I've been using this Doodlebug polka dotted paper for quite a few projects lately - no worries though - I'm almost out!

Can I share my exciting news with you? It's not stamping related though and probably not that exciting for some of you.... my daughter peed on the potty tonight for the first time!!!! She's 2.5 yrs. old and I am so ready to be done with diapers. I'm not pressuring her at all, she just announced tonight that she had to go. Knock on wood for me that it continues and isn't just a one hit wonder!

Boxes of Owls!

I made this for the What's Up Wednesday challenge in the My Favorite Things forum over at Splitcoast. I used a template made by Michelle - you can find all the details on her awesome blog. The paper is by American Crafts and the cardstock is Stampin' Up's Kiwi Kiss and Red Riding Hood - it matches almost perfectly! I actually plan to make more of these and fill them with caramel corn for Christmas gifts - I recently was pointed to Paula Deen's recipe and can't wait to try it out!
Hope you had a wonderful Friday and have a good start to the weekend. I'm off to the Creativ Festival in Toronto tomorrow - hoping to have lots of fun there!

Quilted Anniversary

The husband of one of my good friends called me the other day and asked me for an anniversary card for his wife (my friend). This one was fun to make because I got to use things that I know my friend loves - the colour green, this patterned paper, and references to sewing (she sews amazingly). I used Papertrey's Quilters Sampler and some Scenic Route Sonoma paper. I added the choc. chip colour because it was looking a little Christmas-like with only the green and red. I think the rest is fairly self-explanatory.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Had dinner at a friend's on Sunday and just the four of us for dinner tonight. I am so blessed! Thanks to each of you who continue to drop by and read - I'm thankful for you all!

A Sketchy Scarf!

This is my card for this week's MFT sketch challenge over on Splitcoast. I used one of the October releases - A Scarf for Three and paired it with the Be Good paper line from Cosmo Cricket. The new Stampin Up in colour - riding hood red was a perfect match and I ran it through my snowflake embossing folder. I coloured the twill tape with my copics and frayed the edges to make it look like a scarf. This was a fun card to make! Hope you had a wonderful Friday and have a great start to the weekend!

I'm still here!

Sorry for the lack of posting - things have been crazy!! I haven't had any time to stamp - although I hope to remedy that situation tomorrow! I'm trying to figure out what my Christmas cards will look like this year - although I'm waiting for Papertrey's October release before I make my final decision!

Here's a card that I made a little while ago. I had just received this Upsy Daisy set from Stampin' Up and the Basic Grey paper was new to me as well! I see now that I really should have threaded my buttons - they look so naked, poor things! The sentiment is from Papertrey's Out on a Limb.
I am so enjoying the fall colours - all our leaves have started to turn and fall. I see some raking in my future! This weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving so I have some shopping and prep to do tomorrow. Hopefully it means I'll find time to stamp too! Happy hump day!

Fabulous Cherries!

Happy Friday!! I'm so glad it's the end of the week - but we do have a busy weekend ahead of us. Tomorrow is my son's birthday party - watch for cupcake pictures tomorrow!

I made this card a while ago - it was a thank you for some blog candy that I was lucky enough to win. The cherry stamp is from Lockhart and the sentiment and background stamp are from Stampin' Up. I have a vague memory that this was a SCS colour challenge - Kraft, Soft Sky, and Real red - but I'm not totally sure.

Hope you have a wonderful start to your weekend!

Last of the MFT Projects

This is a project I was inspired to make after I saw Pine's card sending kit. I fell in love with the idea and had to try it for myself. Try not to look too close at the stitching - it's not too straight! This folder took two pieces of felt - I even sewed it with my Janome Sew Mini - I don't own a full size sewing machine. I stitched the Scarf for Three image to the front.

Inside there's room for cards and envelopes, stamps and return labels and a pen. I whipped this together really quickly - I think I will be giving some of these as gifts filled with cards.

This is the one image I haven't yet shown you - it's the newest Annie LaPoint image "Chives". I ran my Basic Grey patterned paper through my Cuttlebug with the Houndstooth folder and sanded the embossed areas. I distressed the edges and added some ribbon with my slot punch. I was trying to do something different with the ribbon and I'm not totally happy with the way it turned out.
Hope to see you tonight at the release party!

MFTeasers Day 3 - Release Day!!

Today is Release Day over at My Favorite Things!! 6 new sets will be released tonight at 10:30pm EST including this one - Christmas Owls. Another super cute image by Stephanie Fizer and accompanied by a punny sentiment - "Hope your holidays are a HOOT!" which I stamped inside the card. I really need a better photo taking set up because you can barely see any of the cute details on this one. The owls are stamped on Poison Ivy cardstock - which is an ivory shimmer cardstock, the owl's eyes are covered in Crystal effects so they're all glossy, and the liquid applique is covered in glitter too. The patterned paper is Basic Grey Fruitcake and the red cardstock is the reverse side run through the Cuttlebug with the new ornaments embossing folder.

Here's another card I made with the "Window Shopping" set. I love this May Arts trim - it just screamed "boutique" to me. The paper is again from the Sonoma line by Scenic Route and the shoes are also stamped on Poison Ivy cardstock. The middle shoe is coated in Stardust pen so it's super sparkly in real life.
I have SO enjoyed being the October Guest Designer for MFT and having the opportunity to share sneak peeks with you. Next month can be your chance!! Hope you can join us tonight in the MFT forum on Splitcoast for the party!! I'll be back later today with one final sneak peek!

MFTeasers Day 2!

I just love these cats and their accompanying sentiment. These are "Peppermint Cats" from MFT, one of the six sets they are releasing tomorrow night. This card ended up being kind of shabby chic - something I rarely do - but I'm pleased with it. The paper is from My Mind's Eye - I sanded the sentiment panel so I would have a lighter area to stamp the sentiment on. The edges of all the patterned papers are distressed and sponged with Vintage Photo distress ink. I also had to use more liquid applique and glitter.

And this is "Reading Flopsey"! Not sure if you can tell but he's fuzzy! I flocked him and added some more liquid applique for his tail. To tone down the whiteness of the liquid applique I sprinkled it with flock while it was still wet - now it looks almost brown. The background stamp is from CHF - I thought it worked perfectly for Flopsey and I just love the sentiment - it is so true!

Tomorrow is the last day of sneak peeks and the party starts tomorrow night in the MFT forum on Splitcoast for the release! Learn how you could be next month's guest designer - it's tons of fun!

MFTeasers!

Yippee! It's here - Day 1 of the MFTeasers. I got the six sets in advance and get to post my sneak peeks with all the design team members - I'm so lucky! I love all the sets being released this month and have had a ball working on samples. My first card is from a set called "Window Shopping" and it's full of shoes and fun sayings! I had this yummy Scenic Route Sonoma paper and decided to make an awning for my shop window. I paper pieced the girl and dress and don't know if you can tell but gave her a ring by adding a sparkle gem to her finger.

My next card is from The MFT Presents line, an image by Stephanie Fizer called "A Scarf for Three". Those snowmen are just so darned cute! This is a 5.5" square card and uses all kinds of Doodlebug patterned paper - the Whimsical Winter line. I used liquid applique and glitter on the earmuffs and hat. I paper pieced the frame and covered it with Crystal Effects. I stitched the whole thing together as I wanted it to look quilted.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing in my excitement! I'll be back with more sneak peeks tomorrow!
