Glittery Birthday!

Hope you're having a great start to your weekend! I am trying to fit in lots of work hours for my school board contract and it's seriously cutting into my stamping time! I also had a great visit with my mom, who flew in for Easter.

I made this card a couple weeks ago. Just a simple 30th birthday card. I coloured the chipboard numbers with a copic marker, and then once it dried, covered them in stickles. I wish I had done something different with the sentiment - but what's done is done.

I also wanted to say Congratulations to my friend Laural who gave birth to her second baby yesterday - Welcome baby Chloe!!!

Oh my!

It's been so long since I've posted! My mom flew in for an Easter visit (yippee!) and we've been busy with family and the kids.

I still have one last Easter card to show you - it was a special order for a dear friend. No surprise that it uses Papertrey's Out on a Limb set yet again (I am just loving that set!)! It is stamped on Cryogen white paper so it's nice and shimmery! I used barely banana, certainly celery and rose red. Hope you all had a very blessed Easter! I'll be sporadic till next week when my mom leaves but I have lots lined up to share! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Easter to all my Peeps!

I found the recipe and idea for this on Splitcoast (of course!) and made some to give away as gifts to friends and my son's teacher. I think they turned out so cute - although my son is awfully put out that there were no bunny peeps left for him to eat. I have it on good authority though that the Easter bunny might be bringing him some! Can I just tell you that my son doesn't like chocolate? I think he must have been switched at birth because I LOVE chocolate!

These jars bake up into a bar cookie once you add butter. The tops were made using a Michaels $1.50 stamp. Hope you have a blessed Easter!

Beate's Weekend Sketch - Feel better

This was a really quick card. I used Beate's weekend sketch challenge and this cute House Mouse image to make a card for an SBS sister who has just had back surgery. The cardstock is cool caribbean and the patterned paper is some old KI memories from my stash. I've been attempting to use stuff up! The image is stamped on Cryogen white cardstock and coloured with copics. I used crystal effects on the ice cube to make it all shiny. Hope you're having a great week!

Guess How Much I Love You?

I must admit that I love that book - but it does get a little monotonous to read over and over again! Are you sick of this set yet? Tough!! I still have one more card to post with it - but I'll give you a couple of days grace! I made this card by brayering blue bayou ink over glossy cardstock. Then I stamped the branch and sentiment with black Stazon and the moon and I love you in Versamagic Cloud white. I kept it simple with just one little crystal sticker and matted with black on Kraft cardstock. I'm quite happy with this one!

Last Baby Card!

I promise (for at least 2 weeks anyway!). This is the main card I made for the three of us to sign. It didn't turn out exactly the way I pictured it - I think it's too busy. I really wanted to use the soft & sweet fuzzy rub-on in the bottom right corner, but I should have left it off as I don't think the style really matches.
I used Papertrey's Out on a Limb with regal rose, chocolate chip, and certainly celery ink. Regal rose cardstock and some Chatterbox patterned paper paired with regal rose cardstock and I stamped the image on Kraft cardstock so that I could make a white moon. I used liquid applique on the branches as well - I just wanted some contrasting texture.
Tomorrow is the last day of March break! It's been a bit of a long week - so it will be nice to be back to school and routine next week!

Sketch Challenge - Somebunny!

This is my card for today's sketch challenge on Splitcoast Stampers. I really wanted to use this stamp I picked up at Michaels for $1.50 and make some Easter cards. I paired it with some Basic Grey Oh Baby patterned paper. I used my Cuttlebug swiss dots folder for the first time and added some primas and some Basic Grey matching fibers. I think it turned out pretty cute and at least I got some Easter cards made. If I can get them in the mail tomorrow - they might actually be on time too!

I had my SU club last night and I was the hostess. I finally broke down and got the felt flowers - I just think they're so pretty and I love the colours. I also got a whole bunch of punches, a background stamp, some markers, and a stamping scrub. I qualified for 2 saleabration sets - so that's good. Can't wait for everything to come in now!

I made these to take with me. They are so yummy! They are called Chocolate peanut butter cup cookies and I got the recipe from my fave baking blog - Cookie Madness. I'm going to post the recipe - not sure if anyone enjoys these recipes - but I'm posting it anyway!

Lara’s Allrecipes Chocolate Peanut-Butter-Cup Cookies (notes from Lara)

1 c. butter, softened

3/4 c. peanut butter (Lara used Skippy Super Chunk)

3/4 c. white sugar

3/4 c. packed brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla extract

2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour

1/3 c. cocoa powder

1 tsp. baking soda

1 c. semisweet chocolate chips

1 c. peanut butter chips

1 package mini Reese’s peanut butter cups, frozen and cut into halves (freezing is key!)

1 c. Reese’s Pieces (Since chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and peanut butter cups aren’t decadent enough)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl (I used my KitchenAid mixer), cream together the butter, peanut butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, cocoa, and baking soda; stir into the peanut butter mixture. Mix in the chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and Reese’s Pieces.
Drop by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. (Whoops – I sprayed mine with cooking spray and they turned out fine). Push one (or if you are over-the-top, like me, two) peanut butter cup half into the center of each ball of dough. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. ***Let cool for 1 or 2 minutes on sheet before removing, or they will fall apart.***

Criss Cross Meal Schedule

This is one of the other gifts we gave to my friend who is so close to having her second baby. The three of us teamed up and committed to 2 meals each - so a total of 6 meals. We decided to do meals on Thursdays, so our friend will receive a meal once a week for 6 weeks. This is how we presented it to her. This is a criss cross card - which I've made in the past (and I love!). But this particular one is a no waste criss cross card. So it only took half a piece of cardstock for the actual folder. The patterned paper is Chatterbox and the only stamping is on the meal schedule - I overstamped the schedule with the Baroque Motifs flourish in Barely Banana ink. I was happy that this turned out "girly" but not babyish at all.
I have my Stampin Up club tonight - and I am hostess so I am super excited! I lucked out as this is the first month we can order from the new Occasions catalog and it is still Saleabration!
Oh and I'm sorry but I had to enable word verification on my blog comments again - I was just getting too much spam!

Baby Thank You Cards

Hope you had a great weekend! I had a good one and topped it off today with a baby shower/baby luncheon with three good friends. One of my friends is due with her second baby in about 3 weeks and we wanted to do something for her before the baby arrived. One of her gifts was a set of these cards. She's already started to receive baby gifts and I wanted to make her some cards to send out, because I know she's a thank you card kind of person. These were super quick - just a cuttlebug folder, a little ribbon, a couple punches and a image that I coloured in with copics (Stampin Up's All in the Family). Oh and a little bling - because my friend Laural is all about bling! So if you happened to be out at a bakery/coffee shop today and saw 4 girls, all wearing pink shirts, tiaras, feathers around their wrists, and laughing non-stop while enjoying each others company - it was us! Thank you Wondermommies for an amazing afternoon!!

MFT Guest Designer April Entry

This is my entry for MFT's guest designer contest for April. The challenge was to create a monochromatic card using only one colour and a neutral. I decided to make my neutral the colour. Lately I am loving brown and I figured it would be appropriate for a chocolate cake. I paper pieced the dress as well as the cake. Another one bites the dust!

Another local rubber stamping store (LRSS) that is. My local store - The Ink Spot in Oakville announced last week that they were closing. Last year I also lost my favorite local scrapbook store (LSS) when it closed. Seems they're a dying breed and that makes me sad. They've both left a huge void for me. We have one other scrapbook store in the city where I live but they carry very few stamps and they have very bad customer service! Unless there's something I have to have, I try not to patronize their business. Anyway....I'm not sure what the point of sharing that was - except that it's bumming me out!


I made this card a little while ago for a friend's son who turned 1! The stamp set is from My Favorite Things and I think it's called Dino-mite! The papers are from the DCWV glitter stack and are all sparkly in real life! I think I made this card using one of the sketches in the MFT forum on Splitcoast stampers.

Out on a Limb Sympathy

Unfortunately today I had a need for a sympathy card. One of the men in my husband's breakfast group passed away and while the funeral was today, his group is collecting sympathy messages tomorrow to pass on to the family. I didn't have much time today, so I cased one of Nichole's cards, changing only the colour scheme. This set is so easy to work with that! I didn't have the right colour ribbon, but I was able to colour the white that I had with a copic marker to get a really close match.
Sorry for the poor quality of picture, but I'm still waiting for my new camera!!

Getting my head above water!

Argh! Sorry for the lack of posting! I'm having a hard time getting caught up since returning home. My contract work is getting busy as deadlines are approaching. I have so many new stamps to play with and no time! Waaahhh! I do have a couple cards to share with you but haven't had a chance to photograph them yet - I'll for sure do that tomorrow.

Absolutely Mortified!!!

I was going through the big stack of mail that was waiting for me upon my return home - and I made a shocking discovery. Way back in Sept. I did a giveaway on my blog for some prismas. I sent them out (albeit late) and never thought of it again. Until today....5 months later. I received an envelope from the U.S. postmaster with the remnants of one of the packages of Prismacolor pencils that I had sent out.

This envelope still had most of the address on it, so I know who it belongs to, and I have emailed that individual. But it makes me wonder if any others ended up this way as well. If you won a set of pencils from me and either never received them, or received them damaged, could you PLEASE email me at kpjohnson@wwdb.org. I would like to send you something out to make up for not getting your pencils. Please don't be shy - I am mortified and would like the chance to follow through.

Snappy Birthday

It seems appropriate that I'm posting this today as it was a beautiful day in Atlanta!! We survived our Disney trip and our enjoying spending time with my husbands parents here in Georgia. I head home on Wed. night (the day before my dd's 2nd birthday!! Gotta love free flights!) and dh and ds come home Sat night. This card was super simple to make - I just love Soft sky and Blue Bayou together! The other colour is Chocolate chip - although it looks black in the pic.

Speaking of pictures, I unfortunately had to replace my camera. We decided to do it in the States as we saved about $130 - the differences in prices between the U.S. and Canada is just ridiculous!! My Canon S2 IS died after only 2 years. I am bummed because it was an expensive camera and it didn't hold up. I get the dreaded E18 error - which seems to run rampant in Canons and they won't admit there's a problem. Anyway.....

I did get some time to go shopping while in Georgia! I went to the cutest little stamp store in a house - rooms full of stamps. I bought some Lockhart stamps there. And I got to go to Archivers - which is always super fun!! Tomorrow I'm off to Hobby Lobby to pick up a couple of Copics that I'm having a hard time finding back home and hopefully a couple of the new Cuttlebug folders!! Hope to have some Disney pics up soon!! Hope you're all having a great week!!!
